1916
Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was established in Tokyo and began manufacturing and sales of lead acid batteries.
1917
Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. was established in Kobe.
1942
Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. opened Moriguchi Works in Osaka.
1949
Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. was listed on the Osaka Securities Exchange.
1960
Hitachi, Ltd. took a stake in Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. whereby joining Hitachi Group.
1961
Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
1962
Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. opened Saitama Works in Fukaya, Saitama.
1963
Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. entered a business alliance with Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd.
1966
Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. made a capital investment in Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., together with Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd., established a sales company, Hitachi Battery Sales Co., Ltd. (later Hitachi Battery Sales Service Co., Ltd., now Energy Systems Service Japan Co., Ltd.).
1967
Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. moved Tokyo Works manufacturing to Saitama Works.
1969
Nihon Storage Battery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. were merged and Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. was established.
1972
Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. listed shares on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
1982
Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. opened Nabari Works and moved operation of Moriguchi Works to Nabari Works.
1982
Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. opened Nabari Works and moved operation of Moriguchi Works to Nabari Works.
1987
CSB Battery Co., Ltd. was established.
1989
Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. opened Saitama Research Laboratory (now the Research Building of the Saitama Works).
2012
Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd.
2015
CSB Battery Co., Ltd. (now CSB Energy Technology Co., Ltd.) became a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd.
2016
Shin-Kobe Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. was merged with Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd.
2017
Thai Storage Battery Public Company Limited (now Thai Energy Storage Technology Public Company Limited) became a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd.
2020
Showa Denko K.K. acquired Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. as a consolidated subsidiary. Company name was changed to Showa Denko Materials Co., Ltd. (now Resonac Corporation).
2021
Energywith Co., Ltd. succeeded the energy storage devices and systems business from Showa Denko Materials Co., Ltd.
2025
AP78 Co., Ltd., funded by Sustainable Battery Holdings Co., Ltd., the parent company of Energywith, completed a tender offer for the shares of Furukawa Battery Co., Ltd.
